Most Parakeet AI reviews describe features. This one grades them. I opened a brand new free account on Parakeet AI, tested each tool I could reach, and gave every feature its own report card with a promise, a reality check, a price and a grade.
Should you use Parakeet AI?
• Yes, if you have a real interview at a large company and want its most repeated questions. The Question Bank is the best thing on the platform.
• Maybe, if you want AI headshots. They look promising, but you cannot see a single result before paying.
• Think twice, if you plan to use the live Call Assistant in a real interview. Users report lag, and many employers treat live AI help as cheating.
• No, if you want a fully free tool. The free plan is a preview, not a product.

I followed the exact path a curious new user would take, with no paid credits:
1. Searched "parakeet ai" and landed on the homepage.
2. Logged in and answered the "What brings you here?" onboarding question.
3. Explored the dashboard and Question Bank home.
4. Opened IBM in the Question Bank.
5. Used my one free preview to unlock IBM's top 3 questions.
6. Uploaded a random photo to the Headshot maker.
7. Clicked generate and hit the credit wall.
Every screenshot below comes from this route.
Grade: A

The promise: "Your Real-Time AI Interview Assistant" that helps in interviews, sales calls and client meetings. Badges claim "No. 1 Viral App in India", 1.5M+ users and a 4.86 rating from 340K+ reviews.
The reality: the page is clean and calm, with floating logos of supported platforms. The badges are the company's own numbers, and the review count is far higher than what Trustpilot shows publicly.

After login, Parakeet asks one question: what brought you here? Five choices (Call Assistant, Mock Interview, Question Bank, Resume Maker, Headshots) decide your starting screen. It turns a crowded app into a single click.

The dashboard splits work into Call Assistant (live call tools) and Prepare (everything before the call). The Question Bank home shows 64,732 reported interviews, 1,885 companies and 4,912 questions, with a "Trending in India" row led by TCS, Capgemini, Infosys, Deloitte and HCLTech.
Why an A: best-in-class onboarding and a dashboard you understand in five seconds. Points held back only for inflated-looking homepage numbers.
Grade: B+

The promise: real questions people were asked, company by company, "so nothing catches you out".
The reality: IBM's page showed 400 reported interviews, 918 questions and a last report from yesterday. The split was Technical 817, Domain knowledge 63 and Behavioral 38, plus Coding (52) and System design (5) tags. That means roughly 89% of reported IBM questions are technical, a useful insight before you even unlock anything.
The questions themselves are locked. Each account gets one free preview that opens the top 3 questions of one company, and it cannot be moved after use.

My free preview revealed questions like:
1. What is the difference between authentication and authorization? (asked in 8 interviews, last reported yesterday)
2. What is the difference between ArrayList and LinkedList in Java? (asked in 8 interviews, last reported 2 weeks ago)
The other 915 stayed blurred. Unlocking IBM costs 1 credit, or you can subscribe for every company.
| Free | Paid |
|---|---|
| Interview counts, question counts, category split, report dates | Full question list for a company |
| Top 3 questions of one company, once | 1 credit per company (about $5.90 to $9.83) |
Why a B+: under 1 cent per question for 918 ranked, recently reported questions is excellent value. It loses marks because the free taste is only 3 questions, once.
Grade: C

The promise: turn one photo into studio-quality headshots for LinkedIn, resumes and job applications.
The reality: the page is persuasive. One sample selfie becomes six looks: Corporate, LinkedIn classic, Startup, Executive, Outdoor and Creative. Upload is instant and the photo guidance (clear, front-facing, good light) is helpful. I uploaded a random photo and picked a style with no friction.

Then I clicked generate. The pop-up said each headshot costs 0.5 credits, 2 headshots cost 1 credit, and my balance was 0. The only button left was Buy Credits. Failed generations are refunded, which is fair, but there is no free sample at all.
| Free | Paid |
|---|---|
| Upload a photo, browse and pick looks | Every generated headshot |
| See sample results made from a demo photo | 0.5 credit each (about $2.95 to $4.92) |
Why a C: the feature might be great, but a free user can never find out. Asking people to pay before seeing their own face rendered even once is a hard sell.
Grade: C+
I could not fully test the Call Assistant, Mock Interview or Resume Maker without credits, so I graded what matters most before you buy: the price. Parakeet shows exact prices only after sign-in. These one-time packs are widely listed by third-party directories:
| Pack | Credits | Price | Per credit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 3 | $29.50 | $9.83 |
| Plus | 8 (6 + 2 free) | $59.00 | $7.38 |
| Advanced | 15 (9 + 6 free) | $88.50 | $5.90 |
One credit covers one hour of live help, billed in 30 minute blocks, and credits never expire. Subscriptions and a lifetime plan also exist, and some reviewers have seen the Basic pack at $39.50, so confirm on the official site.
What a typical job hunt might cost:
| Your plan | Credits used | Basic pack | Advanced pack |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unlock 1 target company's questions | 1 | $9.83 | $5.90 |
| Unlock 3 companies + 2 headshots | 4 | $39.32 | $23.60 |
| One 45 minute live session | 0.75 | $7.37 | $4.43 |
Why a C+: no subscription trap and credits that never expire are real positives. Hiding prices behind a login is not.
| Signal | Marketing says | Public data says |
|---|---|---|
| Rating | 4.86 / 5 | 4.7 / 5 on Trustpilot |
| Review count | 340K+ | About 528 |
| Rating spread | Not shown | About 82% five star, 3% one star |
| Responses to complaints | Not shown | About 5% of negative reviews answered |
Trustpilot also flags that the company has not recently invited customers to leave reviews, so the sample may not be representative.
What happy users say (summarized):
• B.N (5/5): does not rely on the answers, but treats the app as a safety net when their mind goes blank, and finds the transcript useful afterwards.
• Jeevana Gudala (5/5): six months of use with quick, helpful responses.
• Ishani Das (5/5): smooth experience with appropriate answers.
What unhappy users say (summarized):
• Anushka Shekhawat (3/5): slow replies and misunderstood questions led to confusing answers.
• MMMCP Playlist (3/5): had to press a button for each answer instead of automatic question detection.
• Aniruddha Chatterjee (5/5): satisfied overall, but noticed occasional lag.
On Parakeet's own public feedback board, one user described the tool producing irrelevant answers halfway through a live Java interview. Another said answers sounded too long and textbook-like to pass as natural speech.
Reading between the lines: the tool wins on speed and simplicity, and loses on reliability at the exact moment reliability matters most.
| Green flags | Red flags |
|---|---|
| Onboarding routes you to the right tool in one click | Free plan is a preview, not a product |
| Question data shows frequency and freshness | One free company preview, locked once used |
| Credits never expire | No free headshot sample |
| Failed headshots are refunded | Prices hidden until sign-in |
| No forced monthly subscription | Users report lag and robotic answers in live calls |
1. "I am a fresher with a TCS or Infosys interview next week." These companies top the Trending in India list, so the data is deep and fresh. Spend your free preview here first. If the top 3 feel accurate, 1 credit to unlock the full list is worth it.
2. "I am an experienced developer interviewing at IBM." The stats alone tell you about 89% of reported questions are technical. Unlock the full bank and drill the most repeated ones, like authentication vs authorization and ArrayList vs LinkedList.
3. "I just need a professional LinkedIn photo." There is no way to preview your own result for free. If you go ahead, follow the photo rules carefully so you do not waste credits.
Prep tools are fine. A live assistant feeding answers in a real interview is a grey zone. According to Newsweek, a 2026 Resume Genius survey found 22% of US job seekers already use AI during live interviews. Employers are adopting AI too: Yahoo Finance reported that about a third of companies use AI in interviews.
My take: use Parakeet to prepare, then answer on your own. Check each employer's rules first, because a flagged interview can cost the offer.
| Subject | Grade |
|---|---|
| First impression and onboarding | A |
| Question Bank | B+ |
| AI Headshots | C |
| Pricing and transparency | C+ |
| Overall | B- |
Parakeet AI passes, but it does not top the class. Its strongest subject is the Question Bank: real, ranked, recently reported questions at under a cent each. Its weakest is trust, with hidden prices, a headshot tool you cannot preview, and mixed reports from live interviews.
Teacher's note: sign up free, read the stats for your target company, spend your one preview wisely, and pay only if that company's question bank is deep.
